In July I was able to visit Brian, Erika and Addie in San Angelo, Texas!! A few years ago I had the opportunity to drive through Texas with Brian when he was on his way to Montgomery, Alabama prior to flight training, but I have never actually spent some time in our biggest state. It was most definately dry, hot and desolate! I don't think I've ever seen so many big trucks with rhino bars. The best of course was spending time with Addie. I forget how fast the little ones grow up.
This was just fabulous. When I first drove up to their home and walked up the sidewalk to the front door I saw these wonderful words of welcome. Needless to say there was moisture in the eyes on that dry, hot day.
I could not believe it when Brian told me he was really into bowling again!! As a kid he and I would bowl together on bowling leagues and had a great time. We went bowling at the lanes on the AFB base and between throws Brian would read with Addie.
Of all places, there is a lily pond exhibit in San Angelo!! I hear that earlier in the summer the lily pads are more plentiful and full of color, but from what I saw I was impressed with how beautiful it was on that hot, dry day.
I was rather intrigued with the trees in this area of Texas. Very diferent from Oregon!
